Joshua Amato is in his third year at Shawnee State University. Originally, he planned to pursue an English teaching certificate before deciding to major in English and humanities with a concentration in communications. Joshua is currently exploring his career options in anticipation of his graduation in the spring of 2023.

The Chronicle allows Joshua to explore a new medium of writing. He said he hopes that by gaining knowledge in the journalism side of writing, he can narrow down what he wants to do. In addition, he plans to develop new skills and exercise the ones he already has through his reporting for the Chronicle. Even if Joshua does not end up working as a journalist, he said he is thankful for the experience and new perspective.

Joshua grew up in Piketon and said he is enjoying his newfound independence. Outside the Chronicle and school life, Joshua enjoys fantasy novels, video games and playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends. Joshua is currently working on a fantasy novel.
