For any student looking to join a Christian club, Cru at SSU is a great option. According to Faith Wall, the club’s social media manager, Cru was started at Shawnee State in the fall of 2021 “with a mission to be a caring community that is passionate about connecting people to Jesus.” The group strives to be a resource for students who want to grow in their Christian walk with the Lord or for anyone who simply may have questions about Christian living.
Every Thursday night at 8 p.m., Cru hosts separate Bible studies for men and women. The location is announced weekly on their Instagram account. Cru will be having men’s and women’s group Bible study on Nov. 14 on the second floor of Morris University Center. They will also be having their combined monthly meeting at 8 p.m. Nov. 21 with the location to be announced soon.
They meet not only to simply study the Bible, but they also plan fun events to fellowship and have fun with one another. Cru’s last meeting of the semester will be a Nerf war on Dec. 5, with a location and time to be announced at a later date.
“I have grown so much spiritually because of the influence Cru has had on me,” said Cru member Gavin Howard. “Not only have I grown closer to God, but I have formed amazing relationships with people in Cru who I get to see every week attending Bible studies. I am extremely thankful for Cru and the impact it has had on my life and the opportunities it has provided me!”
For anyone interested in becoming a member of Cru, you can join by direct messaging the group on Instagram at @cru_at_ssu or by just showing up to a Bible study or a monthly meeting.
