Shawnee State University’s women’s basketball team enters the upcoming season with both confidence and focus, according to associate head coach Marnae Holland.
“This year’s group feels a little different in the best way,” Holland said. “We’re returning a solid core that understands our culture, and the new players have brought great energy and depth.”
Holland explained that maturity and accountability is one of the main differences in this year’s team when compared to last season. After learning how to win, the team now understands what it takes to maintain that success.
The Bears’ main strengths include their depth, versatility and strong team chemistry. “These players genuinely enjoy playing together, and that shows in how they communicate and compete every day.” Holland noted.
Looking forward, Holland expects the team to perform at a high level, combining leadership from returning players with the athleticism of new additions. When asked about the possibility of winning back-to-back conference titles, she expressed confidence in the team’s potential.
“Absolutely,” Holland said. “If we stay disciplined and focused, we can compete with anyone.”
With experienced leadership and a motivated roster, the Shawnee State women’s basketball team appears well-positioned for another successful season.
