Position: Forward
Kevin De Lange is 20 years old and a sophomore at Shawnee State University. He is the starting forward for Shawnee’s Men’s soccer team and stands as one of the team captains. Kevin is from Genemuiden, a city in the Netherlands and is enjoying his second year on the team. Kevin finished last season with a record of 14 goals and six assists. This year, with half of the season yet to be played, he currently sits with 12 goals and eight assists, already beating his assist record from the previous season.
This week, Kevin was awarded MSC Offensive Player of the Week, having currently the lead in the country with 5 game-winning goals. With a total of 32 points for the season, Kevin is only two behind his total of last season. Sitting 2nd in the NAIA with a massive 12 goals then 3rd with 8 assists, Kevin had to say, “I’m really happy to get this award and it means a lot to me and my family. I wanted to improve on last season’s stats and so far, I’m doing that. I want to thank the team and coaches because I wouldn’t be able to achieve this without any of them. I think we are going to do extremely well this year, because the team has a lot of talent and I know we have more to show”.
The men’s soccer team have a two-week break before returning to action on a trip to Campbellsville in the first conference game of the season.
