Adrienne Whitley

Adrienne Whitley, Staff Writer

Adrienne Whitley is a sophomore at Shawnee State University from Portsmouth, Ohio. She is pursuing a communication degree in hopes of one day becoming a news anchor. She found her love for public speaking when she was chosen as Miss Clay (High School) in 2022 for the River Days Pageant at the River Days Festival in Portsmouth.

While born in Portsmouth, Adrienne was a military kid, meaning she moved around a lot as a kid. She has lived in five different states, including Virginia, Maryland, New Mexico, Texas and Ohio. She is also a member of the cheer team at Shawnee State. By seventh grade, she was a level 2 gymnast, which led her to begin pursuing cheerleading. In high school, she was a varsity cheerleader all four years as well as captain for two years.

In her free time, Adrienne enjoys training her eclectus parrot new phrases and tricks as well as also working on her cheer stunts. She is also a member of the social media management class, which is currently working on a social media management campaign for the College of Arts and Sciences. When asked about the campaign Adrienne said, “It’s inspiring how such a small class can have such a big impact on a community.”
