Haylen Taylor

Haylen Taylor, Staff Writer

Haylen Taylor, an 18-year-old 2024 graduate of Portsmouth West High School, is making waves with her passion and dedication. Known for her leadership and creativity, Taylor served as vice president of the Corps for Rural Success and Health (CRUSH) program while in high school. She was also a key member of the Poetry and Creative Writing Club, where her original works earned recognition in national writing competitions. A longtime participant in the Talented and Gifted (TAG) program, she excelled in both reading and writing.

Taylor’s love for the arts extends beyond the classroom. In her spare time, she immerses herself in music and creative writing, crafting original screenplays that showcase her imaginative storytelling. Her dedication to the craft has led to the publication of two of her works through Young Writers USA, marking significant milestones in her burgeoning writing career.

Currently a sophomore at Shawnee State University, Taylor is pursuing a double major in psychology and communication. Her ambitious academic goals are matched by her aspirations to enter the fields of school or art psychology. At Shawnee State, she is actively involved in the Honors Program, directed by Professor Pablo Salinas. Taylor praises the program for its enriching opportunities and values her overall experience at the university.

With a strong academic foundation and a flair for creativity, Haylen Taylor is well on her way to making a lasting impact in both her chosen fields and beyond.
