Marion Phillips, Staff Writer

Marion Phillips is a sophomore at Shawnee State University from West Portsmouth. He is majoring in AYA language arts education, which he chose because he enjoys helping kids and would love to have summers off. He would also like to coach high school basketball someday. He describes himself as an extrovert who is easy to get along with, and claims that his height of 6 feet 4 inches is his main personality trait.

In Marion’s free time, his hobbies include golfing, watching the Browns play and playing his Xbox. His favorite games are Call of Duty, NBA2k and Madden. His love of sports translates to what he plans to cover, which are Shawnee and local high school sports. He would specifically like to cover West Portsmouth’s high school football team because they won the Southern Ohio Conference Division II championship in 2022. He plans to report on how they are doing in the 2023 season. Marion joined the Chronicle because he wanted to be a journalist before he decided to become a teacher, and he is good at writing. He is excited to learn how media works and to make connections for later in his career.
