The NAIA Mid-South Conference officials announced on Thursday, November 7th that 84 Mid-South Conference men’s soccer student-athletes earned Academic All Mid-South Conference honors, 11 being from Shawnee State University.

This puts Shawnee 3rd amongst the conference with the highest number of players earning honors. Life University topped the Mid-South Conference in the regular soccer season, also taking the gold in All-Academic honors with 17 honorees.

In order to be selected by an institution, a student-athlete must provide a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must also hold a sophomore academic status.

This is an immense admiration for Shawnee State. It proves the University takes good care of their students, and that the student athletes take their education just as seriously as their privilege of representing the school athletic programs.

The 11 honourees representing Shawnee State University are: Corbin Betz, Kevin de Lange, Nathan Ewing, Jonah Hensley, Chris Jones, Eli Maurer, Bryce Romanello, Michael Rose, Jack Sharman-Dodd, Ryan Smith and Carlos Somolinos-Bravo.

The announcement arrived on Thursday, November 7th; just days before the Shawnee Men’s soccer program travel down to Bowling Green ahead of their 2019 Mid-South Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament. There they will face Lindsey Wilson in the Quarter Final on Saturday, November 9th at 5:00 P.M. The tournament games will be played at Warren East High School throughout the weekend. The Bears have a big week ahead of them, all are encouraged to attend and cheer them on.
