My Chemical Romance Reunited for a Show in L.A.

Attention all former EMO kids! Get out your black eyeliner, smudge it out like a raccoon, and scream “I’m Not Okay” because My Chemical Romance are back from the dead. Even though most of us college kids were a bit young to fully appreciate MCR at their peak popularity back in 2006/2007, most of us can’t deny that if you had an emo phase in middle school or high school, you cried when you found out My Chemical Romance had disbanded in March of 2013. For some, this may be the first time hearing of MCR together as a band.

Many fans of My Chemical Romance have brought back their old My Chemical Romance fan accounts on Instagram that have been inactive for months, or even years. This is a celebratory time for the emo community. It was announced on Halloween on Instagram that a reunion show was happening. MCR could not have picked a more edgy time to announce their reunion, but what else is there to expect from a band that is part of the so-called “EMO Trinity”, including Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy, and of course, My Chemical Romance.

My Chemical Romance had formed on September 11th, 2001, after the Twin Towers had fallen and caused devastation throughout the United States. My Chemical Romance had brought the genre of EMO into mainstream with their second album, “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge” in 2004. They only made the genre more widespread after releasing their third album, “Welcome to the Black Parade”. MCR had been unstoppable and no one saw the breakup coming, it was devastatingly unexpected. However, they are now back for a show in L.A. and we can only hope there is more to come from them in the near future.Abigail
