Located in the Student Business Center in the Morris University Center, the SSU financial aid department offers help to those who require assistance.
Financial aid staff can help with issues that arise with parent or student loans, student tuition, refunds, filling out the FAFSA and much more. More specific information on what the financial aid department does can be found at shawnee.edu/financial-aid.
If any issues arise with a student’s loan or tuition, the financial aid department contacts the student to address the problem. Students, as well as their parents or guardians, can go to the financial aid department if they have questions. For a parent to have access to information about their child’s financial aid, students first must fill out the FERPA permission form.
Common issues brought to the department include students withdrawing early, not meeting the federal Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) guidelines, holds on funding or students who have special or unusual cases.
There are many other things the financial aid department covers, such as sending scholarship information to students, keeping track of required federal verification and advising students on how their courses will affect their tuition.
The financial aid office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
If a student is unavailable to meet in person, the financial aid department can also be reached through email at [email protected] or by phone at 740-351-4243. Additional contact information can also be found on their website.
