Located in the Clark Memorial Library, the Writing Center offers help for Shawnee State University students with their writing. The center offers peer tutoring both online and in person to help students improve their writing. Students with questions concerning tutoring can email [email protected] or visit the Writing Center in room 120 in the library during open hours.
“There is absolutely no shame,” said Brew Wilson-Battles, director of the Writing Center, of students who may need help.
This semester, the center is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3-5 p.m. Tuesdays; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-5 p.m. Fridays. Online sessions can also be scheduled 4-7 p.m. Sundays. More information about the center can be found at this link.
With close to half a dozen student tutors, the Writing Center is open to students of all majors. Peer tutors can assist with writing, coming up with ideas for an assignment, grammar or even providing a second set of eyes for a written draft.
“I hope students understand the importance of drafting,” Wilson-Battles said, urging people to visit the Writing Center. “The Writing Center can help go through multiple drafts.”
Information about the Writing Center can also be found on their Facebook page. Wilson-Battles can be reached via email at [email protected].
