Shawnee State University has an opportunity for anyone interested in working within the sports broadcasting world. The Shawnee SportsNet team works with the university’s athletic department to provide online broadcasts of SSU athletic events. The team mainly streams coverage of the Shawnee men’s and women’s basketball teams, along with the baseball team.

SportsNet was started by two sports management students, Casey Todt and Matt Montavon, back in 2011. The project is now headed by Steven Rader, director of SSU’s sport studies program, and staffed by Shawnee State students. Rader welcomes any student who wants the opportunity to experience broadcasting.

Among the benefits of participation, Rader noted the opportunity to “develop communication skills, conduct live and recorded interviews with coaches and players, (gain) great experience to add to the résumé and (have) fun.”

Interested students can contact Rader at [email protected]. SportsNet broadcasts can be found at this link.
