Camryn Pierson, Staff Writer
Camryn Pierson is a sophomore at Shawnee State University. She is majoring in AYA language arts education. She chose this major because she was inspired by her teachers throughout her junior high and high school career to love reading. The Secret History by Donna Tartt is one of Camryn’s favorite works of literature because of its critique of elitism and groupthink.
She wishes to pass that love of reading on to her future students. As a part of Project BEAR, Camryn works with elementary students to provide literacy support. She will be going to Minford Elementary School to continue her passion of encouraging young minds to fall into the world of books.
When asked about an important figure in her life, Camryn named her mom because of the love and support she provides. Camryn offers the following advice to other students: Make sure to stay on top of homework, get involved in college life and make sure to study.
